A message from President Bell:
At 5:13 p.m. on April 27, 2011, an EF4 tornado touched down in Tuscaloosa, cutting a path of destruction and taking many lives. This week, while we acknowledge the courage and sacrifice of survivors, and the progress made since then, we also remember those we lost.
Today at 5:13 p.m. Denny Chimes will sound 53 times in honor of those who died in Tuscaloosa County, including six of our students and one of our employees. Please join me at that time as we pause to remember their lives and reflect upon the legacy they left us.

#UA professor David Dixon is serving as the principal investigator of a multi-institutional team currently working to find chemical methods to clean up nuclear waste. Utilizing the Titan supercomputer at the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (a Department of Energy Office of Science User Facility), the team is looking to understand the chemical reactions taking place with actinides. By examining actinide chemistry at the molecular level, the team hopes to design methods to clean up contamination and safely store spent nuclear fuel. Read more about #TideResearch below.
