Under the leadership of the UA administration and the Student Government Association communications office, we will work together to encourage students to take ownership of their personal and external environments. Plans include safety and health initiatives, programs to help students take advantage of the many benefits available to them, and campus clean-ups. Essentially, the initiatives introduced by Crimson Karma will become a part of the everyday ideals that shape UA.

Our first project will be a volunteer effort to help freshman students feel at home when they move into their residence halls. The Capstone will welcome more than 4,200 new students and their families to campus during MOVE-IN WEEK. On Aug. 10 and Aug. 14-16, the class of 2012 will arrive on campus with tons of bags, a timid mindset and a confused sense of direction. KARMA's first project of the year will be assisting these students and their families with the move-in process and help them become acclimated to the UA campus.
Whether it's grabbing a bag, passing out cold bottles of water or just being there to answer questions in all the residence halls, the KARMA volunteers will cater to the needs of these new students. Volunteers who pledge to help will receive a complimentary breakfast and lunch. Tasks will vary from handling luggage to directing parking to introducing freshmen to the new recycling initiative taking place this year. We encourage you to sign up to give all the time you can; multiple shifts are encouraged. Volunteers who are part of a student organization will acquire points with each shift worked, which will go toward block seating at football games, and all volunteers will get a complimentary pocket tee! This will be a great way to meet other students, help our new freshmen class and get involved!
Numerous campus organizations have pledged to help, but we are looking for as many volunteers as we can get. If you are interested in volunteering for the move-in event, call the SGA communications office at 34U-ASGA and come help us get this project off to a great start.
