The University of Alabama School of Law school anticipates hiring approximately four new entry-level or lateral faculty members over the next two academic years. Candidates should demonstrate scholarly excellence, a commitment to the highest quality teaching, and dedication to service within the law school and in the outside community. Although these positions are not limited by subject matter, particular interest exists for candidates with expertise in: property, land use, wills and trusts, commercial law, bankruptcy, criminal law and procedure, and law and the social sciences. We especially seek candidates bringing different perspectives and an interdisciplinary approach to the law school community.

The University of Alabama, School of Law is seeking nominations and applications for Chairholders who will diversify the school's academic community. A record of scholarly achievement and effective teaching is required. The Chair searches do not necessarily focus on subject match, but the school does have teaching needs in torts, evidence, civil procedure, constitutional law, bankruptcy, decedents estates, commercial law, labor, alternative dispute resolution, and property. The school also expects to add about ten new other faculty over two years in those areas. Most candidates will have a J.D. degree, or equivalent, and have a distinguished record of or outstanding potential for a chairholder-level quality of scholarship and teaching. Exceptional jurists or practitioners may apply. Also, exceptional candidates with an advanced degree, such as a Ph.D., with scholarly interests related to the law and involving interdisciplinary, jurisprudential, empirical, and social science work may be considered even without holding a law degree.

 

Salary, benefits and research support will be nationally competitive.
