The University of Alabama – College of Community Health Sciences (University of Alabama School of Medicine – Tuscaloosa Campus) is seeking one full-time internist and one part-time internist to work in a multi-specialty group practice and participate in the education of medical students and family medicine residents.  Tenure and non-tenure track applicants accepted.  Experience in the academic setting is preferred.  The College of Community Health Sciences is one of three clinical campuses of the University of Alabama, School of Medicine providing clinical training for 60 third and fourth year medical students.  In addition, for over 25 years the College has administered one of the most prestigious and successful Family Practice Residency programs in the Southeast.

 

The College of Community Health Sciences is located on the main campus of the University of Alabama, a comprehensive research institution that offers a wide variety of opportunities for faculty and their families.  Located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, a community of approximately 150,000 there are many exceptional cultural and recreational opportunities.

07A073      Associate Dean of Academic Affairs

The College of Community Health Sciences/University of Alabama School of Medicine – Tuscaloosa, seeks an outstanding Family Medicine Physician for the full-time position of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.  The Associate Dean of Academic Affairs will be responsible for the overall coordination of all levels of education within the college including pre­-matriculation, undergraduate, medical student, family practice residency and continuing medical education.  This individual will also oversee faculty development including the appointment, promotion and tenure process.  The position includes effective collaboration within the three campuses of University of Alabama School of Medicine, and the University of Alabama.  Duties of the positions include significant administration, as well as teaching, direct clinical care and scholarship.  The Associate Dean will report directly to the Dean of CCHS.

 

The ideal candidate will be board certified in Family Medicine (MD or DO), be licensed or license eligible in the state of Alabama, have a distinguished teaching/scholarship record as well as outstanding clinical skills.  Experience in academic administration, teaching and research is expected; demonstrated innovation in medical education, teaching and/or scholarship is preferred.

 

The school is the clinical campus for 60 third and fourth year medical students and the sponsoring institution for 36 Family Medicine residents and houses the Rural Health Leaders Pipeline with high school through graduate level scholars.  The medical school, housed in a beautiful, new state-of-the-art clinical facility, uses an electronic medical record and digital xray system.
