Degrees from the bachelor through doctoral level are granted in areas of performance, theory, composition, history, and education. QUALIFICATIONS:            

Ph.D. or D.M.A in theory or composition; candidates currently working on dissertations will be considered. Applicants should demonstrate strong potential in both research and teaching, and should have prior college teaching experience. Expertise in both tonal and post-tonal theory is required.

 

RANK:                                               

Assistant Professor

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:                       

Teach undergraduate and graduate music theory courses; possible supervision of graduate teaching assistants; possible graduate research supervision; maintain an active research program consistent with the standards of a major research university.

 

THE SCHOOL:

The School of Music, a full member of NASM, resides in a College of Arts and Sciences. It offers graduate and undergraduate degrees in all areas of music, including theory, composition, musicology, performance, education, administration, therapy, and conducting. A full and part-time faculty of fifty-four serves the needs of the student body of 350 majors.

POSITION:                                        Nine Month Appointment with possibility of renewal

 

QUALIFICATIONS:                         Ph.D. or D.M.A in theory or composition; candidates currently working on dissertations will be considered. Applicants must be prepared to teach lower and upper divisional undergraduate theory and must have strong interests and well-established credentials in teaching musicianship.  Candidates who demonstrate strong research potential will receive favorable consideration.  Successful college teaching experience is required.

 

RANK:                                               Instructor

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:                       Teach undergraduate core music theory courses; coordinate a musicianship program and demonstrate a level of musicianship consistent with successful supervision and mentoring of graduate assistants teaching in that program; teach upper divisional undergraduate theory and graduate courses as needed.
