Campus Mail Service Introduces Digital LINC

The number of terrorist and criminal attacks by letter bombs has substantially increased over the last few years.  A bomb is easily disguised in any of countless of ways, but the last thing a bomb is likely to look like is a bomb.

Mail bombs come in all shapes and sizes and can look quite harmless.  A small, very powerful bomb can be concealed quite easily in a small box, package, or envelope.

If you suspect that a suspicious letter or package has been delivered to you:

  • Do not touch, move, or tamper with it.
  • Call the University Police immediately at 205-348-5454.
  • Do not use a cell phone within 300 feet of the suspicious package.

THINGS TO LOOK FOR:

  • EXCESSIVE POSTAGE
  • VAGUE OR UNFAMILIAR ADDRESS
  • NO RETURN ADDRESS
  • MAIL ADDRESSED TO CORRECT PERSON BUT INCORRECT JOB TITLE
  • OILY STAINS AND STRONG ODORS
  • EXCESSIVE PACKAGING TAPE
  • EXPOSED WIRES
  • A BOX OR PACKAGE WITH ALL THE WEIGHT SHIFTED TO ONE SIDE
