The Department of Modern Languages and Classics offers two majors leading to the bachelor of arts (BA) degree. The majors are Spanish and foreign languages and literature. The major in foreign languages and literature offers five tracks: classical civilization, French, German, Latin, and Greek. Also offered are minors in Chinese, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Russian, and Spanish. The Department of Modern Languages and Classics also houses the Critical Languages Center. Students pursuing majors or minors in a language are strongly encouraged to take advantage of study abroad opportunities.
