Students in the College of Arts and Sciences may minor in social welfare in the School of Social Work, subject to the provisions stated on p. 68. The minor in social welfare consists of 18 hours of coursework. The courses required for the minor are as follows:
- SW 100 Introduction to the Fields of Social Work Practice
- SW 200 Social Welfare Institutions: History and Philosophy
- SW 351 Oppression and Social Injustice
- 9 additional hours of social work courses, including at least 3 hours at the 300 or 400 level, to be selected from among the courses open to non-social work majors; minors may take SW 401, SW 410, and SW 411 if they have taken the appropriate prerequisite courses.
