COLLEGE OF COMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION SCIENCES MINORS
Students in the College of Arts and Sciences may apply one of several approved minors in the College of Communication and Information Sciences to the requirements of a College of Arts and Sciences degree program, subject to the provisions stated on p. 68. The approved minors and their course requirements follow.
General requirements for communication minors. The minor requires 18–21 hours in courses offered in the College of Communication and Information Sciences. Students must earn a grade of "C-" or higher in all courses required in the minor and in all prerequisite courses. Any one of the following minor programs may be completed. All require a minimum of 6 hours at the 300 or 400 level earned on this campus.
Advertising: MC 101; a 3-hour elective in APR, JN, MC, or TCF; APR 221; APR 300; APR 322; APR 422*; and APR 418 or APR 423.
Public relations: MC 101; a 3-hour elective in APR, JN, MC, or TCF; JN 311; APR 231; APR 300; APR 332; and APR 419 or APR 432.
Telecommunication and film: MC 101, TCF 100, and 15 additional hours in TCF courses, 6 of which must be at the 300 or 400 level.
Journalism: MC 101, MC 401, JN 100, JN 311, JN 312, JN 499, and an additional 3-hour JN course.
Communication studies: 21 hours, including COM 100 or COM 101 and at least 6 hours at the 300 or 400 level. See advisor for specific course recommendations.
