ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

Recognition of Academic Achievement

The faculty of the College of Education recognizes the outstanding academic achievement of its students by bestowing three levels of honors with the bachelor's degree.

The required averages of 3.9, 3.7, and 3.5 cannot be achieved by rounding. Averages are calculated based on performance in all courses in which the student has enrolled prior to receiving the degree.

Honors Week

Each spring, the University designates a week in which to recognize students and faculty for their leadership and scholarship excellence. During the Friday of Honors Week, the College will recognize the Most Outstanding Student from each of its programs. In addition, the following awards are among those presented to undergraduate students:

Scholarships

The College of Education offers merit-based and need-based scholarships, ranging from $500 to $2,000, to its undergraduate students. Recipients are announced each spring semester preceding the academic year to which the scholarships will be applied. Scholarships are awarded by the College's Scholarship Committee. In addition to demonstrating academic achievement or financial need, an applicant may be required to meet other eligibility criteria. The deadline for applications is established annually by the College of Education.
