ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
College-Wide Awards and Prizes
Austin Cup. A cup in memory of Edward Knox Austin, Class of 1925, awarded annually to the outstanding undergraduate student in the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration, as selected by the entire College faculty.
Beta Gamma Sigma Awards. Four awards presented annually by the local chapter, one to an outstanding undergraduate student, one to an outstanding master's student, one to an outstanding doctoral student, and one to an outstanding business person.
Delta Sigma Pi Awards. A gold key is awarded annually to the C&BA graduating student(s) with the highest scholastic averages. In addition, each year Delta Sigma Pi honors the C&BA freshman with the highest scholastic standing for the year by engraving the student's name on a silver cup.
C&BA Dean's College Recognition Awards. Presented annually by the dean of the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration to those C&BA student leaders who have distinguished themselves by their outstanding contributions to the College.
Department of Economics, Finance, and Legal Studies Awards and Prizes
Department of Information Systems, Statistics, and Management Science Awards and Prizes
Distinguished Management Information Systems Major Award. Award made annually to an outstanding management information systems major. A certificate is presented to the winner, and his or her name is engraved on a plaque that is displayed in the departmental office.
Department of Management and Marketing Awards and Prizes
American Marketing Association Student Marketing Awards. Two awards—each consisting of a one-year membership in the Birmingham Chapter, a plaque, and the inscription of the recipient's name on a permanently displayed plaque—are presented to an outstanding senior and outstanding graduate student majoring in marketing who, in the judgment of the marketing faculty, best represent the marketing major and have provided outstanding service to the program and the College.
Sales and Marketing Executives of Birmingham Award. An award consisting of a one-year membership in the Birmingham Chapter and the inscription of the recipient's name on a permanently displayed plaque is presented to the marketing senior or graduate student who is deemed to have greatest potential in a sales and marketing management career.
James Larry Carmichael Department of Marketing Outstanding Student Service Award. An award to the graduating senior in marketing who has the most distinguished reputation for service to the entire University community. The recipient's name is engraved on a permanently displayed plaque.
Harry D. Bonham Marketing Club Scholastic Award. The graduating senior majoring in marketing who has maintained the highest scholastic average during tenure at Alabama is honored with a permanently displayed plaque.
Taylor E. Little and Dudley Ray Watson Award. In memory of these individuals who stood for excellence in the field of marketing, an award is given at the completion of the doctoral program to those who share their dedication.
Burton R. Morley Scholar. The student majoring in management who has completed the junior year at The University of Alabama with the highest scholastic average will be named a Burton R. Morley Scholar.
Alabama Action Award. This award is presented to the senior majoring in management who has demonstrated not only outstanding scholastic ability but also has served in a leadership role at the University and in projects that affect the community.
Health Care Management
Health Care Manager of the Year Award. A gold plaque awarded annually to a health care management senior who has made the most outstanding contribution to the Health Care Management Society and the program. The recipient is selected by members of the Health Care Management Society.
