Students in the College of Arts and Sciences may minor in social welfare in the School of Social Work, subject to the provisions stated on
p. 64-66. The minor in social welfare consists of 18 hours of coursework. The courses required for the minor are as follows:
- SW 100 Introduction to the Fields of Social Work Practice
- SW 200 Social Welfare Institutions: History and Philosophy
- SW 351 Oppression and Social Injustice
- 9 additional hours of social work courses, including at least 3 hours at the 300 or 400 level, to be selected from among the courses open to non-social work majors; minors may take SW 401, SW 410, and SW 411 if they have taken the appropriate prerequisite courses.
