The Department of Anthropology offers one academic major for students interested in archaeology, cultural anthropology, physical anthropology, or anthropological linguistics.
Requirements for the anthropology major. The major requires 30 hours, including
ANT 102,
ANT 107,
ANT 210,
ANT 270, and 18 additional hours of advanced work (300- or 400-level) distributed as follows:
- 3 hours from either cultural anthropology course: ANT 436,
ANT 440
- 3 hours from the following physical anthropology courses: ANT 311, ANT 471, ANT 473, ANT 475, or ANT 476
- 3 hours from the following archaeology courses: ANT 367, ANT 368, ANT 408, ANT 409, ANT 427, ANT 429, or ANT 430
- 9 additional hours chosen from ANT 300-ANT 499
A minimum of 12 hours at the 300 or 400 level must be earned on this campus.
Requirements for the anthropology minor. The minor requires 18 hours of anthropology courses, including at least 6 hours at the 100 level and at least 6 hours at the 300 or 400 level. A minimum of 6 hours at the 300 or 400 level must be earned on this campus.
