[Support Programs and Services for Students]
The Action Card serves multiple purposes at The University of Alabama. The Action Card is the official University photo identification, a campus event access card, a campus debit card (Bama Cash), a meal plan card (Dining Meals), and a campus food cash card (Dining Dollars). Our Action Card Online Web services, located at actcard.ua.edu
, allow cardholders access to their debit account information for both Bama Cash and Dining Dollars to check balances or review two weeks of account transaction history. Through Action Card Online, you can also deposit funds directly to Bama Cash via Visa, MasterCard, and Discover cards. Staff at the Action Card Office, 104 Student Services Center, (205) 348-2288, are available to answer questions.
It is the student's responsibility to have his or her Action Card made during freshman or transfer orientation. Lost or stolen Action Cards should be reported immediately by calling (205) 348-2288 or 1-800-474-2288 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There is a $20.00 replacement fee applied to the student account maintained by Student Receivables. Replacement Action Cards are produced at the Action Card Office, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Temporary Action Cards are available during non-business hours from the Department of Public Safety, located in Gorgas Hall. Temporary Action cards allow students to access essential card services for a short, pre-established time only to allow time to either find the original card or have a replacement Action Card made. Temporary cards must be returned to the Action Card Office to reactivate the card account regardless of whether the original is found or replaced.
A valid Action Card must be presented for access to NCAA sporting events (a ticket is also required for football games), student recreational facilities, student computer labs, the Russell Student Health Center, and many campus entertainment events. A valid Action Card is also required to check out materials from University libraries, to pick up football ticket orders, and to establish an account at the Seebeck Computer Center Help Desk. For most students living in residence halls, the Action Card also serves as an access card for entrance into their residence hall lobby doors.
Bama Cash is an optional account, which, once established with a prepaid deposit of funds, allows students to pay for purchases at a wide variety of on- and off-campus locations. On-campus locations accepting Bama Cash include food service, vending machines, book stores, copiers and printers, residence hall laundry centers, convenience stores, parking decks, Golf Center, Bryant-Denny Stadium concessions, game room, and student telecom services. Off-campus vendors accepting Bama Cash include restaurants, pizza delivery, book stores, yogurt and ice cream shops, convenience stores, coffee shops, beauty salons, tanning salons, and video rental stores.
