Alabama in India 2008 is an interdisciplinary program of study that introduces students to Global Studies and explores how various cultures shape and influence Indian Society. WHY INDIA? The University of Alabama invites you to join its three-week program to learn about the way of life and economic development of one of the world's largest democratic countries. India is both a marvel and mystery. India has a rich and varied culture that has resulted from thousands of years of often turbulent history. It is one of the world's oldest civilizations and it is the birthplace of many of the world's religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism. Also, India has many places of worship and holy sites of Islam, Christianity and the Jewish faith. India is a land where people of different religions (Census 2001 - Hindu 82%, Muslim 12.20%, COURSE OFFERINGS Late applications will be considered. Students planning to use financial aid to fund their overseas study should contact Vickey Phillips (vickey.phillips@ua.edu, 205-348-8760, 135 B.B. Comer Hall) for a financial aid letter which details the cost of the program and estimates expenses not included in the program. Students should take the letter to Financial Aid and meet with a counselor. If Financial Aid determines an award will be made, they will prepare an Anticipated Aid form for you. Please bring this form to CIAP. Please remember to include your CWID and name of program on the form. Capstone International has program scholarships available based on need and merit.
