RN Options - Promotion to Upper Division

RN Mobility students may apply for promotion to the upper division only for the fall semester. Students must be admitted to The University of Alabama and provide official copies of transcipts for all completed coursework in order to be promoted to the upper division (an application for admission is available at http://apply.ua.edu).

Candidates for the RN to BSN Track should demonstrate:

  • Successful completion of all lower division coursework
  • A minimum GPA of 2.5
  • A minimum GPA of 2.0 in science courses
  • Unencumbered RN license and eligibility for licensure in the state where clinical requirements will be completed.

Plan of Study Options

Full-Time Plan of Study - To enroll in the full-time plan of study, RN to BSN students must complete All core courses prior to beginning any nursing courses.

Part-Time Plan of Study - To enroll in the part-time program of studies, RN to BSN students must have completed all science courses and direct pre-requisites for the nursing courses. Students who lack no more that 4 core courses will be allowed to complete those courses with the nursing courses.

Promotion for RN to BSN/MSN students requires a minimum GPA of 3.0:

  • 3.0 GPA in the last 60 semester hours of course work
  • Unencumbered RN license and eligibility for licensure in the state where clinical requirements will be completed.
