Dr. Oliver initially began her nursing career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She continued her nursing education and earned an Associate Degree in nursing from Shelton State Community College. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing. She attended graduate school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and earned a Masters of Science in Nursing, with a focus area of Adult Nurse Practitioner-Primary Care. Dr. Oliver earned her Ph.D. at Georgia State University. While attending Georgia State University, she received the Sigma Theta Tau Epsilon Alpha Chapter Research Committee Award and Scholarship and the Promise of Nursing for Georgia Regional Faculty Fellowship administered by The Foundation of The National Student Nurses’ Association. She has recently been accepted into a Health Disparities Research Training Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Oliver began teaching at the Capstone College of Nursing in January of 2002. She has taught in several different courses at the Capstone College of Nursing including: Concepts and Issues in Professional Nursing; Fundamentals of Professional Nursing Practice; Professional Nursing Practice of Adults; Nursing Informatics; and Pathophysiology of Nursing. She is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau and holds a dual membership in the Epsilon Omega and Epsilon Alpha Chapters. Dr. Oliver is also a member of the West Alabama Nurse Practitioner Association, Alabama State Nurses Association and the Oncology Nursing Society.
