Q: What is the cost of the program?
Each distance education course is priced per semester hour. For current tuition rate per semester hour logon to Academic Outreach, http://academicoutreach.ua.edu/, and click on Prospective Students then Tuition/Financial Aid.

Q: Has this program been accredited?
The Masters Program in Case Management offered by the University of Alabama is approved by the UA's Graduate School and UA is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The CCN Graduate Program is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Q: Is financial aid available?
Yes. Students can apply for financial assistance through the UA channels that are available to all graduate students. If you are interested in seeking financial aid, call the Office of Student Financial Aid at 205-348-6756, the fax number is 205-348-2989. Financial Aid, http://financialaid.ua.edu/, is open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:45 pm central time. Or you may visit the Graduate School's website for more information at http://graduate.ua.edu/. There is also an assistantship, a scholarship, and traineeship money available through the Capstone College of Nursing. Call 1-800-313-3591 or 205-348-6639 to learn if you qualify.

Q: Is an e-mail address required?
Yes. All Students admitted to the University of Alabama receive a bamamail account. If you do not know your bamamail account search the Student Email Directory, http://directory.ua.edu/, for your e-mail address.

Q: How many courses can be transferred into the program?
Students can transfer up to 9 semester hours of graduate-level coursework. According to Graduate School policy, the course can be no more than six (6) years old at the time of graduation. For this program, other related graduate coursework can be transferred into the program; however, the coursework must be at the graduate-level and you must have earned a "B" average or better for courses at each institution for which transfer is requested.

Q: How long will it take me to complete the program?
For full-time students, the program will take one academic year, plus one summer to complete. Students may also be able to complete the program in two years on a part-time basis, including summers.

Q: Do I need to write a thesis?
No, the thesis is optional. If you wish to write a thesis, appropriate support will be provided. Please note, however, that selecting the thesis option may require some travel to The University of Alabama campus in Tuscaloosa.

Q: What are the standards for admission to the Graduate School?
* For unconditional admission you must have:
Either a 3.0 GPA in your undergraduate program, or a 3.0 GPA in the last 60 hours of your undergraduate program.
* For conditional admission you need to have completed the application procedures and meet one of the criteria listed below:
Either a 2.5 GPA in your undergraduate program, or a 2.5 in the last 60 hours of your undergraduate degree program, or a minimum score of 40 on the MAT or 900 (2 sections, combined) on the GRE.

Q. Will I get help registering and progressing through the program?
Yes, you will be assigned a faculty advisor who will guide you through the program.

Q. Will I be able to access course materials via e-mail or the internet?
We currently use WebCT as our course delivery tool. Anyone who has access to the internet, a Bamamail address and registered for the course.
