Lowery Learning Resources Center

The College's Lowery Learning Resources Center (LLRC) provides faculty with the necessary resources to teach essential nursing concepts and skills. The LLRC is composed of a media laboratory, computer laboratory, clinical practice laboratory and simulation laboratory. Students use the media and computer labs to complete assignments, work on group projects and view assigned and recommended multimedia materials.

The Capstone College of Nursing (CCN) maintains 4 separate open access computer labs totaling 105 student computers. These computer labs allow students to access library resources and other information available on the Internet and support computerized testing for students in undergraduate courses. Students also have opportunities in the computer labs to practice inputting, managing, and retrieving patient data using the Meditech patient information system. This software is available to students through a collaborative agreement with DCH Regional Medical Center where the Meditech patient information system teaching site is available remotely to students in the CCN computer lab.

Resources available in the LLRC foster self-directed, independent student learning. The LLRC is named after the late Dr. Barbara Hester Lowery, Director of the learning resources center from 1984 to 1990.
