Mrs. Bigham received her BSN from the University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing in 1994. In 1999, she received her Master of Science in Nursing from the Mississippi University for Women with an emphasis in primary care of children and families. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Mrs. Bigham is an advanced practice registered nurse with extensive experience in occupational and industrial nursing. She also has experience in emergency and critical care nursing. She has worked in nursing management and staff development. Her faculty practice is in the area of family medicine.

Mrs. Bigham is the course leader for NUR 324 Fundamentals of Professional Nursing, and is an instructor in courses NUR 475 and NUR 479 Preparation for Licensure. She is responsible for classroom and clinical supervision of undergraduate nursing students. In addition to her faculty responsibilities, Mrs. Bigham is the vice president for the Epsilon Omega chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society and is enrolled in doctoral study.
