Brief Chronology of 2008 ETD Actions

April-May

Graduate Council recommended implementation; provost approved

May-June-July

Graduate School developed UA website; worked with Proquest/UMI (PQ) on UA-specific website for students to log in to submit theses and dissertations to PQ as PDF files

July

UMI contacted UA; company changes required them to rebuild 150+ existing ETD sites before adding submission sites such as UA’s

August

Graduate School ETD site ready to go live as soon as ETD site is ready

August

PQ informed UA that it will be at least the end of September before UA students can submit ETDs to PQ

November

 UA continues to contact PQ each week, but we still do not have a date by which they will have UA’s ETD submission site ready for us to test

Current Status:  

Students planning to submit a thesis or dissertation for spring commencement should plan to submit in the traditional paper format.  We will revise this notice as soon as we have an update from PQ.  We will e-mail all graduate faculty and all graduate students as soon as PQ is ready for students to submit ETDs.
