The University Medical Center provides a walk-in clinic for faculty, staff
and their families who are covered under The University of Alabama medical insurance
(Blue Cross/Blue Shield). The co-payment is reduced to $20.00 and is required
at the time of service.
The University Faculty-Staff Clinic is located near the main entrance of the
University Medical Center just past the Information Desk. The Faculty/Staff Clinic
was specifically designed to provide fast, cost-effective urgent care for non-emergency
medical problems. The Faculty/Staff Clinic is devoted exclusively to the care
of University employees and their dependents. No appointments are taken or needed;
however, you can call ahead (348-5030) when you need to find out how many patients
are currently waiting and plan your visit accordingly.
The clinic is staffed by Board Certified Nurse Practitioners who treat urgent
non-emergency complaints such as minor injuries, respiratory complaints, fever,
coughs, sore throats and minor eye infections. Lab and radiology services are
available in-house in most cases. Physician consultations are readily available
when needed.
Angela Hammond, CRNP, is the full-time nurse practitioner at the Faculty-Staff
Clinic. She is a graduate of the UAB Family Nurse Practitioner Program and has
12 years experience in family practice. Elizabeth Smith, CRNP, and Susan Guin,
CRNP, are also on staff in the Faculty-Staff Clinic.

- You have virtually no paperwork once you initially register (Bamaflex accounts
will reimburse)

during your work week, it is available for you, UA employees, at the UMC Faculty-Staff
Clinic.
