Instructions

Application (in pdf)   Application (in MS word)

If you are ready for a challenging five weeks on a college campus this summer, return the attached application by March 15.  The program is limited to 10 students.

Dates of the Program

The program begins Sunday, June 4, and ends Saturday, July 8.  An orientation session for parents and participants will be held on Sunday afternoon, June 4.  Classes are scheduled daily with Chemistry lecture, an orientation to College course, a writing course and a chemistry lab.  Seminars and field trips are scheduled throughout the program.  The week following the program you will have an opportunity to shadow a health care professional of your choice in your home community.

COST

Tuition and books expenses are provided by financial support from the Alabama Family Practice Rural Health Board, the University of Alabama and friends of Rural Alabama.  Participants will be responsible for their transportation to and from the program, and personal expenses.

This is not a summer camp-it is an intensive and rigorous academic program.  You will be expected to attend all classes, seminars, and field trip. Also, you will be expected to keep up with a rigorous schedule and large amounts of homework.  If you are expecting an easy five weeks, you will be disappointed.  If you come prepared to work hard and use your own initiative to take advantage of opportunities for learning and growing, your summer with the RHSP will be a rewarding experience.
