Dr. Rubin graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1980 with a dual
major in Speech Therapy and Spanish. After working as a speech therapist for
children and adults with developmental disabilities for 5 years, she moved to
Denver, Colorado where she completed her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology
in at the School of Professional Psychology, University of Denver. She completed
her APA accredited Clinical Psychology Internship West Virginia University Health
Sciences Center in the Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry and graduated
in 1990.
Dr. Rubin joined the faculty at the University of Alabama in 1990 as an Assistant
Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. She became the Director of Psychology
Clinical Services, Research and Training in 1998 and as Associate Professor in
1999.
While Dr. Rubin has a general therapy practice in the Betty Shirley clinic
serving adults, adolescents, and couples, her areas of specialization include
Family Systems Therapy, Health Psychology/Behavioral Medicine and Eye Movement
Desensitization and Reprocessing. Her academic interests include medical psychology
and psychology education and assessment of competencies.
