As in all clerkships at UASOM, you will be required to electronically submit a patient log on the E*value system by the end of the rotation. At present, only patients you have admitted or written daily hospital notes on are necessary for inclusion. At least 20 patients are expected in each student’s log and you should include up to 4 diagnoses if applicable. Failure to complete the patient log will result in a grade of incomplete for the rotation.
It is expected that each student will be exposed to at least one patient with the following disease processes:
- Hypertension
- Hypotension
- Congestive Heart Failure
- Coronary Artery Disease/ Evaluation of Chest Pain
- Obstructive Lung Disease
- Diabetes Mellitus
- Acute/ Chronic Renal Insufficiency
- Anemia
- Acute Infection (i.e. pneumonia, urinary tract infection, meningitis, etc. )
- Chronic Infection (i.e. HIV/AIDS, chronic viral hepatitis, etc. )
- Electrolyte Disturbance (i.e. disorders of sodium, potassium, etc.)
- Thyroid Disease
- Malignancy (solid or hematologic)
You can access the log at www.e-value.net using your ID and password. If you encounter any problems, please contact Dr. James Jackson at jjackson@uasom.uab.edu or 205.934.6656.
