UA to Celebrate 175th Anniversary
The University of Alabama will celebrate its 175th anniversary in 2006 with events
and activities planned throughout the calendar year. The state’s flagship
university, UA was founded on April 12, 1831. The University will commemorate
that momentous day on April 12, 2006 with a Founder’s Day program and
a community-wide birthday party.

Athletic Teams Mark Anniversary
with Commemorative Patches
Watch for a new emblem on Crimson Tide football uniforms on A-Day! The team
will sport patches commemorating the 175th anniversary of the University. The
football team and many other athletic teams will wear the patches on their
uniforms or warm-up suits throughout 2006.
Alumni to Share in Celebration
The National Alumni Association will celebrate the University’s 175th
anniversary with birthday cakes at each chapter meeting throughout 2006. Active
members of the association will receive 175th anniversary lapel pins at chapter

Marker Dedication Planned for
December
The University will dedicate a permanent marker commemorating the 175th anniversary
at a ceremony planned for Dec. 15 at 2:30 p.m. Watch for more details in the
fall.
