Founder’s Day ProgramThe University of Alabama community celebrated the 175th anniversary of the founding of the University with a Founder’s Day Program on April 12, 2006 on the Quad in front of Gorgas Library. The program featured remarks by two of UA’s 15 Rhodes Scholars – Dr. Dwight Eddins and Brad Tuggle – as well as UA President Robert E. Witt. Eddins and Tuggle represent UA’s rich academic tradition. Eddins, professor of English at UA, was a UA student when he was named a Rhodes Scholar for 1961. A 2001 Rhodes Scholar, Tuggle is UA’s most recent student to receive the prestigious award. The program ended with a birthday party on the Quad. All faculty, staff, students and community members were invited to attend. Below are some pictures from the Founder's Day program.
